The Battle of BritainThe battle of Britain is one of the most influential air battles in world war two if not the history of war. The offensive was launch by Germany as a precursor to their planned invasion of Britain as they feared the might of the British navy and felt they needed air superiority to launch the possible land based offensive. The battle spanned mid to late 1940, lasting just over 3 months, and ended with the German choosing to change tactics from bombing airfields, radar stations and fighter command, to then begging the blitz, the attempt to bomb the British into submission. The use of defense systems was tremendous in the victory for Britain, these include technology such as radar, as well as the use of people in systems such as fighter command and observer corps. The New Zealand influence was large, this including the pivotal role of Sir Keith Park.
